The Killer stood loose.

In his hand, down his arm, was his gun.

It was part of the conversation, but it had not yet been introduced.

"She is not given to you."

The Victim's face moved with the breeze.

Ground rules are set
for my defense
It's typical of the times
but I digress
I pick up my pace
to match her steps
her heels turning slow
upon themselves

I make an excuse
to close the gap
Her hair's in her face
as I say things
to make her laugh
and I don't know

I listen to God
when I hear Him talk
I'm always in place
but I find
that sometimes
I feel lost
Pictures of face
will help lead me on
I picture her face
leaning on the inside
of my arm
and I don't know
anything
